Dell EMC launched a new integrated data protection device on Wednesday to boost channel sales in the mid-market with a 2U form factor optimized for VMware environments.
"There is a lot of room here for partners to grow in the middle market, and we see this as a way to reach a broader customer base," said Beth Phalen, president and general manager of the Data Protection division. Dell EMC, in an interview with CRN USA.
"We made a simplified sales move from which partners can easily talk to customers to implement and install it: a 2U device that takes less than two hours to install."
The new Dell EMC DP4400 offers converged data protection, backup, deduplication, replication and recovery, as well as disaster recovery and long-term data retention in the cloud. The device sits on a dense 2U platform with Dell's 14th generation PowerEdge servers optimized for VMware environments with integration that allows administrators to perform backup and recovery tasks directly from the native vSphere.
The solution prepared for the cloud includes 5 TB licenses for Dell EMC Cloud Disaster Recovery, Cloud Tier and its RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines startup package, which offers five virtual machines and a one-year subscription.
With the company's Cloud Tier technology, which has native levels for long-term retention in public, private and hybrid clouds, the total protected capacity reaches 14.4 BP. It also offers cost-effective native cloud disaster recovery for Amazon Web Services with end-to-end orchestration, all without the need for additional hardware.
Phalen said the offer is compatible with the largest application ecosystem, including applications such as MySQL and MongoDB, and supports multiple hypervisors such as Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware vSphere.
"We are bringing performance, application coverage and seamless extension to the cloud in a way that customers can consume, which is simpler and easier to implement than ever," said Phalen.
"It is very important for our partners to help customers protect their data at this time. The most successful partners are those who are helping customers ensure their data is protected." So there is a great opportunity for growth in the market. with this new product. "
The DP4400 has an HTML5 user interface, integrated networks and a maximum performance of 192 TB in the cloud, aimed at remote offices and branches. The device has an average deduplication rate of 55: 1 and can protect 5 PB of usable data capacity.
The portfolio of Integrated Data Protection Devices (IDPA) of Dell EMC already includes the DP5300 and the DP5800 for medium-sized companies, and the DP8300 and the DP8800 for large companies. In February, Dell EMC expanded its popular Data Domain data protection line into the small and medium business market with the launch of its new DD3300 platform.
The DP4400 is guaranteed by the Dell EMC Future Loyalty Program that offers customers a three-year money back guarantee, to name a few incentives. "The loyalty program is a key part of what we are doing with [DP] 4400," said Phalen. "Customers need trust and proof of the future and it's not something anyone else can offer them."
